CHADIS Origins

Raymond Sturner, MD and I, both pediatricians and leaders in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, founded Total Child Health, Inc. (TCH) in 2001. TCH is the sole distributor of CHADIS and partners with the non-profit, Center for Promotion of Child Development through Primary Care. The Center’s mission is to conduct research and further develop methods of assisting primary care clinicians in the detection, treatment and prevention of mental, behavioral and developmental problems in children, as well as promoting positive development in all children.

What is CHADIS?

CHADIS is a unique screening, decision support and patient engagement system designed to streamline and optimize healthcare by having parents, teens and teacher complete questionnaires securely online thereby providing clinicians with evidence-based data that improves diagnosis and management of health, emotional, developmental and behavioral concerns. CHADIS both saves costs and generates practice revenue while improving care.

Total Child Health’s Mission

The mission of Total Child Health, Inc. is to provide products and services that improve the mental and physical health of children. In particular, the company focuses on the development and distribution of a web-based platform called CHADIS (Child Health and Development Interactive System). While TCH focuses on providing technology-based tools and services to clinicians, the Center has provided much of the research-based findings that constitute the backbone to the technology developed by TCH. TCH has been a recipient of twelve of NIH and CDC Small Business Research Innovation awards. Together with the Center, CHADIS has received more than $12 million in federal and Foundation grants for research and development of the current system. The true driver for the company’s success and the need for further development of its products and services are the desires of all parents to seek the very best for their children.

As part if our educational efforts, the Center, the only IT company designated as a “portfolio sponsor” by the American Board of Pediatrics for their Maintenance of Certification program, offers 75 credits of MOC-4 with chart reviews provided by CHADIS.  We also have a monthly live webcast at 12 EST on the third Tuesday of each month with Drs. Howard and Sturner and Dr. Frosch, a child psychiatrist, you can join to present your cases or just listen. Check out CHADIS.com for details.
